Thermal Management

Heat decides how a pack ages, and most of it is settled by physical layout before any electronics are involved.

Cells packed shoulder to shoulder create a thermal gradient across the block. The cells in the middle run hotter, age faster, and eventually drag the whole pack down. Spacing is not wasted volume — it is the cheapest life extension available.

Thermal design decisions

Cell spacing

Cells are held at fixed spacing in moulded holders so a warm cell is not heating its neighbours.

Interconnect sizing

Nickel strip is sized for pack current. An undersized or cold-welded joint becomes a resistive hot spot and one of the most common field failures.

Sensor placement

Sensors sit on the cell block where the heat is, not on the enclosure wall where readings lag reality.

Enclosure and isolation

Powder-coated steel with vibration isolation, electrically isolated from the cell block and the BMS.
